happy halloween!
we went to the pumpkin patch with pat & kelli and matt & bonnie the other night. when we got there we realized the camera was out of batteries, so bonnie took some photos for us. then her camera ran out of batteries! ugh! we had fun but ended up with seven pumpkins. i have this illness where i feel bad for inanimate objects and once i pick out a pumpkin, i can't just leave it in the patch! it turned out that i picked out 4 and will picked out 3 so we had to take all seven. luckily it was dollar night at the pumpkin patch, but everyone else kept looking at us like we were crazy. i guess they are right!

just practicing
i mentioned to tiffany the other day that i waited too long to look for a monkey costume for asher, and couldn't find any. being the master seamstress she is, she just happened to have one on hand she'd made for shaylynn when she was one. the next day soph was over playing with asher and she wanted me to put it on him. once we got it on, i put him in front of the mirror. he looked SO proud and instantly started making the monkey sound. soph immediately asked if we could "hang him from something". here he is... proud to be a monkey:

as everyone knows, all the cool monkeys drive cars.

i LOVE grass!
(and i mean that in a very literal, non-illegal substance sort of way :)
it has been a month since my last post. we have been VERY busy. here is a time line of the work we did in the yard:
september 20th: we hired out someone to trench the yard.
september 22nd: we started on our sprinkler system. i'm really sad we didn't get a photo of it - it looked really cool to see all the pipes running under ground. if any of you are interested, i'll show you the plans. hahaha.
september 28th: we finished laying all the pipe for the sprinklers, leveled the pipes, and started filling the trenches.
october 1st: we finished filling the trenches and started the prep work for the patio.
october 2nd: we rented a compacter and compacted the dirt where the concrete would go and brought in gravel to finish the prep work.
october 4th: we (my dad) poured the concrete to expand the patio, brought in 5 loads of topsoil and rented a bobcat to move the dirt around the yard. then we raked. and raked. and raked.

october 8th: we had the curbing poured and started putting sprinkler heads on.

october 10th: we finished putting all the sprinkler heads on, raked, raked, raked, and layed sod! let me point out that we did the whole yard in 2 1/2 weeks without taking time off work. needless to say i have spent the past two weeks catching up on housework! thanks SOOO much to our wonderful friends and family who came and helped!

this boy is SOOO happy to be able to crawl freely around the yard!

i love this guy!
i was wondering what everyone was laughing about...
after president hinckley finished sustaining the officers
of the church during the saturday morning session of general conference on october 6th, elder eyring had moved into his new seat on the stand. unfortunately, they didn't show this on TV, but when president hinckley turned around, he stood there
for a moment looking at elder eyring, then picked up his cane and "knighted" him on his shoulder and head.
here's the picture of it. i love how elder eyring looks just like a
little boy....
