jack-o-lanterns

we went to the "pumpkin patch" last week to pick out pumpkins. (asher doesn't know what a real pumpkin patch is just yet, so we took the easy route this year) last night we carved them. asher's favorite part was blowing out the candles.

two miracles this week

1. food tastes good again! to celebrate, i actually cooked a meal (which is a miracle in and of itself), one of my favorites. the artichoke is the star of the photo.

2. we had our level-2 ultrasound and this baby's choroid plexus is completely free of cysts! (everything else checked out great as well)

although the second miracle is much more significant than the first, together they mean i can actually sit back and enjoy the rest of this pregnancy!

asher's birthday party

asher had a fun day waiting for his "friends" to come over for his party. he was quick to catch on to the present thing and LOVED all of his new toys. his favorite was this thomas the train flashlight. he would open his other presents but kept coming back to this. since then he has come to love all his new toys. we didn't get many pictures due to all the commotion that was our house that evening, but this one pretty much captures it all: the birthday boy, the prize toy, and the cake, which was a good effort but we ran out of steam before we could draw lightning mcqueen on the side. i don't think he noticed though- and he told everyone we ran into for days about his "mack cake".
