port-a-kid
for many of you, this may seem normal but i have an extremely un-portable kid. he prefers to sleep only in his crib. occasionally he will doze off in the car and even less often in the stroller, but he ALWAYS wakes up when i try to transfer him to his bed. one day after a run in the rain he fell asleep. he looked so cute i had to take a photo. i carried him inside, took off his coat and gloves, and laid him on the couch by my dad while i went upstairs to change. amazingly he stayed asleep! then i had to take my dad home so we loaded him in the car seat and i couldn't believe it when he didn't wake up. we drove to my mom's, carried him inside, laid him on her couch, and never once did he open an eye. i had to document and publish this amazing event because i am not sure it will ever happen again!

That is seriously amazing! I KNOW how that boy won't nap anywhere but home. So much like Nic when he was a baby. I think it's because when they are the only little dudes ruling the house, they have the luxury of being able to get most of their naps in their comfy beds. Just wait until you have another one and have to tote Asher around to preschool, etc. while the baby needs to sleep! Then, they will probably get used to napping places other than home. :)
My boys were/are the same way. Most of the time it's great, but sometimes you just wish they would pass out on the bench at church like the kid two rows up. (Not really though). Sorry about the sneaky blog posting--thanks for your nice comment, though.
Tyler would not sleep anywhere but his bed either. I would bring the car seat into the house with him in it fast asleep and set it on the ground. The second that happened his eyes would pop open and he would be wide awake. You couldnt even move him from his carseat without him waking up.
Darling boy!
You do need to flip that little one back to rear-facing in his carseat. He'll be much safer, unless he's outgrown the limits on that Britax.

And GREAT job keeping him harnessed... keep him harnessed as long as you can!
